LEXINGTON, KY.—The National Tour Association (NTA) announced that it will donate one dollar to the Arbor Day Foundation’s National Forest Replanting project for each delegate who registers for its Annual Convention on opening day. For every delegate who registers May 19 to attend the 2009 NTA Annual Convention, November 14 to 18, in Reno, Nevada, NTA will make a donation to help America’s national forests.

The Arbor Day Foundation says that every dollar donated will result in one tree planted. As a result of last year’s contributions, NTA delegates helped to plant more than 600 trees.

“NTA is pleased to give its members an easy way to make a big difference again this year,” said NTA chairman and CEO Michele Michalewicz, CTP. “It is important that we all take time to recognize that we must protect the planet so generations can enjoy it through travel.”

Last year was NTA’s first green convention and set a record for the highest amount of material recycled from one event at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh. Delegates helped to recycle 9.435 tons of material, including nearly 3.465 tons of composted materials, three tons of cardboard and 2.97 tons of bottles, cans and loose paper. Additionally, 123,500 gallons of water was reclaimed. NTA will continue its green initiatives at this year’s convention.
