STATE COLLEGE, PA.—Developers of The P Hotel and Spa, in conjunction with Hospitality Asset Management Co., announced that Megan Morath has accepted the position of assistant general manager of the new condominium-hotel, slated to open in 2010. The P Hotel and Spa is slated to be the first luxury condominium hotel in State College and will be among the first environmentally superior LEED certified hotels in the country.

“Megan represents the start of our process to build a management team of excellence at The P,” said Benjamin Heim, CEO of Tricore Group, LLC. “She brings extensive experience in the hotel-spa industry and has a working knowledge of our local market. As a Penn State alumna, she is perfectly suited to interface with our guests and suite owners.”

Morath comes to The P Hotel and Spa from Bedford Springs Resort where she most recently served as front desk manager. Hired as part of the pre-opening management team after the completion of their $125 million renovation, Megan assisted in the development of policies and procedures, employee training and the mass interviewing of more than 1,000 employees for the resort.

A 2005 graduate of Penn State University’s School of Hotel and Restaurant Management, Morath was recruited as the first management trainee at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, Pa., and eventually assumed the role of assistant guest services manager. As a student at Penn State, Megan participated in The Hotel Institute Montreux, Switzerland and the Caribbean Hospitality/Tourism Development programs and worked for both the Days Inn-Penn State and for Shaner Hotel Group of State College at Williamsburg Square.

Experience Meets Opportunity

“I’m really excited to join the team at The P,” Morath said. “I believe that my experience with guests who expect only the best in service and luxury accommodations will lay the foundation for excellence. I am eager to bring my knowledge of hotel operations, guest services and hospitality to The P. Working with guests and owners to plan the perfect spa weekend is right up my alley.”

The in-house European style spa will feature numerous specialty water treatment areas in addition to traditional spa offerings. The first and second floors of the hotel will include retail and restaurant space as well as a lounge, a wine cellar, banquet and meeting space and an indoor pool. One hundred and three (103) guest suites will be available for both personal ownership and for overnight accommodations.

“Megan’s hire allows us to begin to set the standard for customer service,” said Bruce White, vice president of operations for Hospitality Asset Management Company. “As we begin to recruit both management and front line staff, Megan’s vast experience in the resort-spa setting will be of incredible value.”

Hospitality Asset Management Co. of State College will manage the daily operations for The P Hotel and Spa as well as the rental program for suite owners.
