SAN DIEGO—Barona Resort & Casino announced that it has installed a multi-million dollar air filtration and purification system to further enhance indoor air quality at the casino. The first-of-its-kind system features a V-PAC Photo-catalytic Air Cleaning System manufactured by Ultra Violet Devices, Inc. that was engineered and installed by Synergy Environmental.

“We take great pride in always having the best technology available and after extensive research and testing, we have found the most advanced air filtration and purification system on the market today,” said Rick Salinas, General Manager of Barona Resort & Casino. “The powerful combination of UVDI’s V-PAC system and Synergy’s engineering expertise are providing Barona with even cleaner air and we are very excited for our guests and staff to experience the results.”

Barona tested the UVDI V-PAC air cleaning purification system in the casino’s Off-Track Betting Room. An independent air quality testing company, Western Environmental Services, was brought in to measure the results and confirmed that the V-PAC system was extremely effective in reducing Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) concentrations to extremely low levels and also highly effective in handling spikes caused by cigarette contaminants.

First Casino in United States to Use System

“We are so pleased and proud that Barona is the first casino in the country to utilize the UVDI VPAC three-stage system,” said Roger Kiesling, LEED Certified Western Regional Sales Manager for UVDI. “Barona has a reputation for always leading the industry with the best technology and equipment on the market and our system is the best available for air filtration and odor removal.”

To maximize the benefits of the V-PAC air purification system, Barona has also taken steps to significantly increase the air circulation throughout the casino. Recently, 150 perforated air returns in the casino were replaced with technologically advanced louvered returns which increased air flow by 66 percent.

“Barona is all about creating a fun and enjoyable gaming experience for our players and a great work environment for our staff and we believe that includes providing the best indoor air quality possible,” added Salinas. “We are really excited for our guests and our staff to experience the results of this new system.”
