CHESTNUT RIDGE, N.Y.—BioHitech America, a green technology company that provides an innovative data-driven solution for food waste removal, along with their U.K. distributer GreenComm Environmental Ltd. and their Israel distributor Ramona Municipal Services announced two new customers overseas: Athenaeum Hotel, a small family-owned five star hotel in Mayfair London that was recognized as one of the best hotels in the world by Travel + Leisure in 2014 and Nir Etzion Hotel & Catering Hall in Israel, one of the leading hotels in Israel with a large conference center for groups of up to 350.

“We are thrilled to be working with these two businesses not only to help them divert food waste but also to prevent it from the start,” said Frank E. Celli, CEO, BioHitech America. “By utilizing our Eco-Safe Digesters they will have real-time access to data that will help them understand what is being wasted and how to prevent it. We can also track utilization, monitor equipment performance, and support their units right from our offices in New York.”

BioHitech America’s unique solution to food waste combines green technology with the power of big data. The company’s Eco-Safe Digester, an on-site aerobic digester, eliminates up to 2,400 pounds of food waste in a 24-hour period by converting it into nutrient-neutral water and transporting the water safely through standard sewer lines. The BioHitech Cloud, a reliable, manageable and secure reporting platform measures key metrics to optimize the food waste disposal process and help eliminate food waste from the start.

BioHitech America is currently assisting hospitality and food service businesses across the globe manage their food waste in an environmentally friendly and cost efficient manner. Some of the hospitality and food service clients include Chelsea Piers, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Great Wolf Lodge, Hilton Worldwide, Marriott International, and The Cheesecake Factory.

“The Athenaeum hotel spent a good amount of time investigating solutions to deal with their food waste,” said Alex Giacchetti, Chief Operating Officer, GreenComm Environmental. “The Eco-Safe Digester’s proven technology was the only solution that would allow them to benefit financially, and measure and prove their environmental impact. The owners have been so impressed with the results of the digester to date, they have already placed an order for another digester to be installed in a second hotel.”
