The new principals, consisting of William D’Onofrio, AIA; Pete Choquette, AIA; Darren Draper, PE; and Lauren Wallace, assumed ownership of the firm on July 1, 2016.

D’Onofrio, who will become the Director of Operations for the firm, says its clients and 55 employees will experience a seamless transition. “The new ownership group has managed the day-to-day technical services of the firm for the past five years, working with Dagmar Epsten to develop the infrastructure and processes that have helped make the firm so successful,” said D’Onofrio. “With that first-hand knowledge and experience, we will continue the firm’s track record as a leader in the sustainable building movement, working to help better balance people, the planet and the profitability of our client’s projects.”

“After 25 years of working enthusiastically, I am proud of having gained Epsten Group’s local, regional, national, and international recognition as a leader in the sustainable building industry,” Epsten said. “Today, we are widely known for our state-of-the-art services for high-performance buildings and our contributions to the sustainable building movement. Having worked with the new ownership group over the past several years to develop Epsten Group’s strategic priorities, customer service, employee culture, and operational structure, I am confident that the firm will maintain the same standards of excellence and the same spirit of innovation that I have instilled in Epsten Group over the past quarter of a century.”

Epsten Group was established by Dagmar Epsten in 1991 as a traditional architecture firm, with sustainability consulting as a service option even before the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating systems for buildings became popular. Then, Epsten Group’s successes included overseeing the certification of two of Atlanta’s first LEED certified building projects, the Georgia Tech’s Scheller College of Business with the campus bookstore at Technology Square and the Wells Fargo office tower at Atlantic Station. The firm also became involved with LEED certification review services and has provided technical reviews on over 8,500 projects in more than 50 countries. Dagmar Epsten has since been recognized as Georgia’s first LEED Fellow and as a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA) for continuing to build service lines and growing the firm into a multi-disciplinary professional services organization with architects, engineers, and environmental experts, providing comprehensive services for high-performance buildings including design, consulting, commissioning, and certifications.
