MAUI, HAWAII—Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea has launched a new “going green” limousine service using Motor Trend’s 2013 Car of the Year, the all-electric Tesla S 85 luxury sedan, to transport guests from the Kahului airport to the resort.
“From the moment guests step off the plane, they can begin embracing Maui’s lush tropical setting—bedecked with dazzling flowers and fauna—without leaving a carbon footprint,” says Mark Simon, marketing director, Four Seasons Resort Maui.
The Tesla S 85 four-door sedan can accommodate three passengers plus the driver and is available for round trip airport service as well as for escorted trips around the island at an hourly or daily rate. The Tesla is also being added to the complimentary transportation options that are included in the Maile, Lokelani, and Elite Oceanfront Suite packages.
More Than 200 Miles Between Charges
The black/black electric vehicle is known for its distinctive sleek look, its smooth ride and handling, and its ability to travel 250 miles (400 kilometers) between charges. “All electric vehicles are fast becoming the future of automobile travel and we’re pleased to offer this option to our guests who, like us, prize supporting a sustainable environment,” adds Simon.
Simon points out with pride another Four Seasons initiative to plant 10 Million Trees. This project, Team for Trees, focuses on Hawaii’s smallest island, Kaho’olawe, a desolate and barren place, which had been used as a training ground and bombing range for the U.S. Armed Forces from World War II until 1990. The resort’s staff has joined with the Kaho’olawe Island Reserve Commission to help restore the island’s environment, planting more than 2,000 native trees, shrubs and grasses.
“How we treat and consider our natural resources today will determine the landscape for future generations,” Simon says. “Four Seasons staff and guests are respectful and conscious of the island’s ecosystems and this need to preserve the natural assets and beauty for all to enjoy.”
