Gold Key Competition Includes ‘Best Eco Conscious’ Category

NATIONAL REPORT—Hospitality designers from around the world are invited to submit their best work in this year’s Gold Key Award for Excellence in Hospitality Design competition. Now in its 36th year, HX: The Hotel Experience’s Gold Key Awards competition, sponsored by Boutique Design, recognizes the most influential and innovative design work in every sector of the hospitality industry. Categories this year include: Best Eco Conscious or Socially Conscious Hotel; Best Lobby Budget/Focused Service; Best Lobby Midscale; Best Lobby Upscale; Best Lobby Luxury; Best Guest Room Budget/Focused Service; Best Guest Room Midscale; Best Guest Room Upscale; Best Guest Room Luxury; Best Suite; Best Nightclub/Lounge; Best New Hotel Brand or Soft Brand Concept; Best Resort; Best Restaurant Casual Dining; Best Restaurant Fine Dining; Best Special Feature; Judges’ So Cool; Best Hotel Budget/Focused Service; Best Hotel Midscale; Best Hotel Upscale; and Best Hotel Luxury.

Each project entry must have been completed from June 1, 2015 through July 1, 2016 and be accompanied by the Official Online Entry Form and a fee of $185. Submissions must be received by Friday, July 8, 2016.

Judges for the competition will include: Edwin Hendriksen, Senior Vice President Development & Investments—North America, citizenM hotels; John McMullen, Senior Vice President of Construction, Highgate Hotels; Michael Medzigian, Chairman and Managing Partner, Watermark Capital Partners, LLC; Dane Patunoff, Director, Development & Construction, KHP Capital Partners; and Thomas Prins, Partner, Gemstone Hotels & Resorts.

The Awards Gala will be held November 14, 2016 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York.
