OTTAWA, ON.—Green Key Global announced their inclusion in Meeting Professionals International’s (MPI) Affinity Program, an initiative designed to give back to the meeting and event industry through the MPI Foundation Education Endowment.

Earlier this year, Green Key Global announced the release of version 2.0 of the Green Key Meetings Program, a comprehensive environmental assessment tool for facilities, both lodging and non-lodging, that host meetings of any scale. Building on their longstanding collaboration with MPI, Green Key Global will now contribute a portion of the revenue from Green Key Meetings to support the important work of the MPI Foundation.

“A key component to increasing sustainable practices in our industry is education,” said Tony Pollard, Managing Director for Green Key Global. “We are proud to support this learning opportunity and look forward to our partnership, forged in 2010 with the development of Green Key Meetings, continuing to flourish in the coming years.”

Green Key a ‘Natural Fit in the Program’

“The MPI Foundation is pleased to have Green Key Global as a partner and contributor within the MPI Affinity Program,” added Tony J. Fundaro, Senior Director of Development-MPI Foundation. “Green Key Global is a natural fit in the program as a socially responsible leader in our industry; we’re grateful to have them help fuel the growth and advancement of MPI members.”

Green Key Meetings evaluates participants in six areas of sustainable performance and management: Core Areas (energy, water, waste); Communication (information, training, policies & management); Activities (community, procurement, auditing); Exhibitions; and Audiovisual & Production.

Upon completion, the facility is awarded a ranking of 1 to 5 Keys and provided with a thorough performance report that includes recommendations, best practices and potential areas for improvement and savings. Participating properties are listed on the Green Key Global website, a valuable resource for meeting planners.
