CLEVELAND, OHIO—Hasek Communications, the Cleveland, Ohio-based publisher of Green Lodging News, has added an Onity case study to its Vendor Case Studies section. The case study details Onity’s installation of an energy management system at the CoCo Key Hotel and Water Resort in Orlando, Fla.

In early 2013, CoCo Key converted to Onity SensorStat EMS thermostats integrated with the InnGENIUS monitoring system by EcoLodgix and Dr. PTAC packaged terminal air-conditioning units. These units constantly condition outside air to the room through a secondary unit, while using the main unit to correct for reasonable heat loads.

The Onity EMS system uses Passive Infrared (PIR) occupancy sensing and HVAC setback levels to automatically regulate room temperatures. The wireless Onity system, coupled with the hotel’s property management system, activates in-room HVAC at check-in and automatically turns up the air-conditioning so the room is cool and comfortable by the time the guest arrives.

Dashboard Delivers Information to Hotel Management

The InnGENIUS monitoring system by EcoLodgix provides a front-end dashboard delivering information to hotel management to help identify individual room occupancy, temperature, humidity and fan status to troubleshoot maintenance concerns, save energy and assure guest comfort.

The resort experienced a 20 percent decrease in energy consumption in the first three months after installing the energy management system.
