CHICAGO—Interface was recently awarded Best of NeoCon honors for its new Urban Retreat modular carpet tile collection, celebrating its global launch at this year’s show. Urban Retreat, which explores the intersection of manmade and Mother Nature, earned Silver in the Carpet: Modular category.

This year’s competition drew 325 entries in 40 product and furnishings categories, and was sponsored by Contract magazine, Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc., the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), and McMorrow Report.com.

Urban Retreat was inspired by Biophilia—man’s innate attraction to nature. Designer and constant collaborator David Oakey drew from the growing global trend of green cities, with nine pattern studies ranging from refined textures to broad organic forms. Pattern studies grouped into three collections, Urban Retreat One, Urban Retreat Two and Urban Retreat Three, evoke bark, stone, straw and linen in eight natural, earthy colorways culled from the company’s global hits, with lush green accents of ivy, moss, grass and lichen.

Urban Retreat contains up to 81 percent recycled content, including 100 percent recycled content fiber and high recycled content backing.

“Urban Retreat is a landmark collection for Interface,” said Maria Davlantes, SVP and CMO of Interface, Inc., “and we are thrilled to celebrate its launch with Best of NeoCon honors, which solidify its position as a leading product for innovative, purpose-driven, eco-friendly design worldwide.”
