MIAMI—Miami based Trust Hospitality announced that the Islamorada Resort Co., comprised of Amara Cay Resort, Postcard Inn Beach Resort at Holiday Isle, Pelican Cove Resort & Marina, and La Siesta Resort, has partnered with the Coral Restoration Foundation (CRF) to raise funds for the organization. The nonprofit conservation organization is dedicated to creating offshore nurseries and restoration programs for threatened coral species. Islamorada Resort Company will help raise funds for CRF through guest donations and a matching fund.

“With our recent entry into Islamorada, we wanted to find a way to give back to the local community,” said Patrick Goddard, President & COO of Trust Hospitality. “We whole-heartedly support the cause and are thrilled to be partnering with the Coral Restoration Foundation to not only raise money for the foundation, but to also raise awareness of the need for restoring our threatened coral species, as this is such a key element to what makes Islamorada such a sought after and unique destination.”

The partnership, which will run through April 1, consists of an optional one dollar guest donation for each room night booked at Amara Cay Resort, Postcard Inn Beach Resort at Holiday Isle, Pelican Cove Resort & Marina, and La Siesta Resort. In addition, Islamorada Resort Co. is matching guest donations.

‘Backbone of the Economy’ in Florida Keys

“We’re excited to be teaming up with the Islamorada Resort Company on this project,” said Ken Nedimyer, Founder & President of CRF. “The coral reefs and the outdoor recreation they support are the backbone of the economy in the Florida Keys, so taking care of them is simply good business. CRF is a community-based endeavor, so having the support of the local resorts and their guests directly supports our efforts to restore the coral reefs off Islamorada.”

CRF is leading the development of offshore nursery and restoration methods to preserve unique genetic lineages of staghorn and elkhorn coral, which were once the dominant reef building corals in the Florida Keys and Caribbean. The foundation works to educate and promote awareness of coral reef health and survival, engage communities by encouraging long-term involvement, and grow and restore threatened coral species. CRF continues to collaborate closely with other organizations to further develop strategies for restoring threatened species of corals.
