Within the next month there will be a number of significant announcements—two of which involve Green Lodging News. First, I have been working hard on a redesign of the Green Lodging News website. I compare it to moving from one country to another as almost 9,000 files have been moved to a new software platform. The website will look significantly different and certainly more updated from a design standpoint compared to the current site. The new site should be ready to for launch in the next few weeks. Watch for it!
Speaking of my current site and the new site, I am in need of guest columnists to continue the flow of those types of articles to the website and e-newsletter. Suppliers, consultants, owners, managers, engineers, students, teachers and others are all welcome to submit guest columns. Perhaps you have an opinion to express? The second significant piece of news has to do with the Green Lodging Survey which many of you participated in. As you know, Green Lodging News, in partnership with Greenview, launched the first annual Green Lodging Survey this year. We are currently producing the Green Lodging Survey report and it will be ready for distribution late next month. As written two weeks ago, some of the survey results will be shared at HX: The Hotel Experience in just a few weeks. If you will be attending HX, don’t miss that presentation.
Finally, within the next couple of weeks the 2016 Lodging Survey report will be released. This year’s report, a production of the American Hotel & Lodging Assn. and STR, includes the results of a survey of more than 22,000 properties. There were more than 8,000 responses to questions covering topics ranging from wireless Internet access to whether or not there is an ATM on property. Of interest to Green Lodging News readers will be the results of many questions related to sustainability. Be sure to watch for the results of this survey.
