SAN FRANCISCO—Smith & Fong Co., manufacturer of Plyboo bamboo architectural plywood and flooring, announced the launch of its new Linear Line Collection of carved bamboo panels, according to company president Angus Stocks. Inspired by the depth and movement of hand loomed fabric, the Linear Line’s carved face layer reveals a uniquely graphic inner core. These intersecting surfaces harmoniously suggest the natural, tactile quality of a woven textile.

“This collection is suitable for any interior feature and is available in six architecturally inspired styles, each utilizing RealCore Technology in varied compositions,” Dan Smith, founder of Smith & Fong, said.

The Linear Line Collection is made from 100 percent FSC-Certified bamboo, which is also rapidly renewable and free of urea formaldehyde. Sheet sizes are 4’x8′ x 3/4″ thick and available prefinished or unfinished in Amber or Natural colors.

The Linear Line Collection is designed in San Francisco and fabricated in the United States from domestic and foreign components. “It is great to be manufacturing in California again,” Stocks said. “We feel this panel represents the new face of our company and our commitment to American manufacturing.”

Linear Line panels can contribute toward three different USGBC LEED credits (MR 6 Rapidly Renewable Materials; MR 7 Certified Wood EQ 4.4 Low-Emitting Materials, Composite Wood). Panels can be specified CARB Phase II-compliant or 100 percent FSC-certified bamboo/urea formaldehyde-free. Reveal panels are Class C fire-resistant (Class B available custom order), and California Section 01350- and CARB Phase II-compliant.
