SAINT-GEORGES, QUEBEC—Victor Group announced today that the company has completed a comprehensive third party certification project based on the new Facts sustainability certification program for commercial fabrics. A new Facts certification mark was developed to recognize contract textiles that meet the rigorous requirements of the multi-attribute standard NSF/ANSI 336. This new mark is owned by ACT, the Association for Contract Textiles, and applies to contract fabrics used in the office, hospitality, healthcare, and institutional market segments. Aligned well with other industry standards such as level by BIFMA, this new certification program will help specifiers to select textiles that meet the strictest sustainability requirements.

In order to carry the Facts mark, a textile must be assessed and approved by an independent third-party certification body authorized by ACT. For the assessment and certification of their products and processes, Victor Group chose to work with SCS Global Services, a leader in providing third-party environmental and sustainable certification, auditing, testing, and standards development. SCS examined sustainability attributes related to the composition of Victor Group’s products, as well as their manufacturing processes. This comprehensive project included the assessment of the following eight sustainability attributes: Fiber Sourcing, Safety of Materials, Water Conservation, Water Quality, Energy, Air Quality, Recycling Practices, and Social Accountability.

A wide range of Victor Group’s products was analyzed by SCS as a part of this process, beginning with all of the polyester platforms that fall underneath their Eco Intelligence umbrella, including antimony-free, post-consumer recycled, and post-industrial recycled polyesters. Also included in this assessment are Victor Group’s recently introduced Eco Intelligent Wool, and their new Eco Intelligent Recycled Nylon platform which will be launched in 2014. All of their products certified so far have achieved either a Gold or Silver Facts rating, and include panel, seating, and healthcare cubicle fabrics. This broad range of certified products includes proprietary styles sold to OEMs and Jobbers, as well as open line styles sold through Victor Group’s own distribution system.

“We have supported this initiative from the beginning, and are very pleased to be among the first to offer Facts certified products to the commercial interiors market,” said Alain Duval, President and CEO of Victor Group. “Our company has been committed to sustainable design, development, and manufacturing for many years, and this new certification program aligns well with our products, processes, and practices as well as our strategic direction for the future.”
